We have another unique opportunity to be in mission this coming Wednesday, April 29 at the MERCI Center.
Working with Rise Against Hunger, we will have an opportunity to unload and repack a tractor trailer load of Irish potatoes donated by a warehouse in Faison, through the auspices of another of our partners—Society of St. Andrew.

The potatoes will be coming to us in very large burlap sacks, so we need several things.
(1) Persons who can take their pick-ups and/trailers to MERCI to pick up potatoes in bulk bags which contain about a ton of potatoes. Those persons will be given smaller bags to take back home and pack the potatoes so that they can be distributed to food pantries or to people in need in those communities.
(2) Volunteers who are willing to pack the potatoes that are in the large bulk bags into smaller bags for distribution to folks who will be driving up to MERCI to receive bags of potatoes for individual use. We will adhere to social distancing procedures and will have masks and gloves on hand for use. Most of the work will be done outside—weather permitting. We will be scattered throughout the larger parking lot so that we can keep space between volunteers.
(3) Volunteers who are willing to help load cars/trucks with individual bags of potatoes (10 lbs and 20 lbs bags will be packed by volunteers).
