In this season when we give thanks, it is appropriate to give thanks for every volunteer who has come to MERCI this year or who has helped us in your local Church by putting together kits and checking Agape boxes. We are getting near the finish line for checking those Agape Christmas boxes. As these boxes are obviously time sensitive, we really need to close out this project this week. We were blessed by several groups recently which have helped us make a substantial dent, but we certainly have enough work to carry us on for two more work days: this coming Wednesday, Nov 20 and this coming Saturday, Nov 23 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. I am fully aware of the fact that we are all busy. No one, including myself or the other volunteers, has been able to be at EVERY work day, but we implore you (using an old theological phrase) to please find time to volunteer on one of these two days. Bring someone with you. We believe that we can put the final touches on this project if we have enough volunteers. As everyone knows who has done it, checking boxes can be tedious work, but as Nara Melkonyan is sharing with us this month, it is very much worth it when a child receives the gifts.
BTW: There is a short article that I wrote explaining why I don’t think Agape is a Toxic Charity even with all of these gifts being sent to Nagorno-Karabakh. Hopefully, you will find it useful. Remember, MERCI is a warehouse. We have limited ways to heat the building because we have to have ventilation for the propane heaters and the forklift when we use them. Dress appropriately. Wanda Loy and Linda Heil will meet you on Wednesday. I’ll be present on Saturday along with Wanda and Linda. Let’s finish strong! Thanks. Let me know if you have any questions.
