For over 25 years, the North Carolina and Western North Carolina Annual Conferences have supported ministries in Armenia and Artsakh (a.k.a. Nagorno-Karabakh). For most of those years, Nara Melkonyan and her family have been the face of AGAPE on the ground. Much assistance has been given to the poorest of the poor in a desolate part of the Caucasus Mountains.
This November, Nara Melkonyan will once again attempt to come to the US to visit churches and organizations in the North Carolina Conference area to tell the amazing story of AGAPE. Assuming she gets a visa to be able to come to the US, we need to begin the process of reserving times and places for her to share about the ministry of AGAPE—which belongs to all of us. To have her visit your church (and to perhaps stay in your community for at least one night), please contact the Rev. Bill Haddock at 910.262.3831 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Priority will be given to locations that are willing to cluster with other churches to hear her presentations.
Also, it is time to work on those AGAPE Christmas Boxes! For a list of items that need to go in the boxes, please go to https://nccumc.org/outreach/files/2019-New-Packing-List-for-Christmas-Boxes-for-Armenia.pdf. Each district will have drop-off points that will be available near our Oct. 1 deadline.
