On Monday, April 1, Heritage DS, Randy Innes, ADS, Jin Lee, Tarboro center site manager, Jason Duvall and the volunteers (clergy and lay) who worked on the house joined with World Renew for a House Blessing Service at Ms. Nadine Birth’s house.
During worship, Ms. Birth was asked to speak and she said, “These are tears of joy!
I could not have imagined this house to turn out so beautifully! I thank God and all of you for giving me hope and being patient with me!” It was touching to hear Ms. Birth speak about the love she experienced through the ecumenical cooperation of God’s people.
World Renew presented Ms. Birth a beautiful hand-woven wreath full of symbolism to remind her of God’s never-ending love along with a beautiful hand-made quilt. Ms. Birth was overwhelmed with tears when Jason presented her with a framed stained glasses piece recovered from a jewelry cabinet damaged in the flood; she shared that the cabinet was given to her by her late mother. There were tears flowing around the room as Jason gave the closing prayer. The joy in the air was tangible as everyone enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.
Birth plans to move back into her family home by Easter and have a big family gathering on Easter Sunday after Church.
