Did you know this about Missions?
Youth and Young Adults are answering the call to missions work around the world. Many youth from our local churches volunteer for mission journeys—which give meaning to their vacation, or their semester abroad, or even their gap year in college. There is a partial list of UMVIM teams which accept youth on them found on umvim.org.
A youth team to Costa Rica open to youth from any UM Church in the NC Conference will be led by Bill Haddock from August 3-10, 2019. For an application for that journey, contact Bill at revbillh@nccumc.org or by cell phone 910.262.3831.
For Young Adults, ages 20-30, the United Methodist Church sends out Global Mission Fellows for two-year mission service—either internationally or in the US through the US-2 program. Global Mission Fellows experience community living while engaging in justice work and becoming an ambassador for mission. Benefits include a simple-living stipend, relocation assistance, insurance, housing, and a post-service award. Recent international track locations include Columbia, Grenada, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, and South Korea. Recent US-2 Track Locations include Detroit, Miami, Nome, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
The deadline for applying to be a Global Missions Fellow is January 7, 2019. Go to umcmission.org/gmf for information and for an application.
