November 27 is #GivingTuesday, a day of generosity and thanksgiving for all the good and healing work of United Methodist mission projects and missionaries. This day is a response to the hyper-consumerism surrounding the holidays by supporting organizations that are transforming the world.
Last year, United Methodists collectively raised more than $677,000 online for Advance projects and missionaries. 100% of gifts given through The Advance goes to support the ministry you choose.
You can support ministries like:
- Disaster Response Youth Fund: the NC Conference will match all gifts made to Youth Storm Response up to $500,000.
- UMVIM: help raise $10,000 to get an additional $5,000 in matching funds.
- National Justice For Our Neighbors: help immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking families live safely, securely, and permanently here in their new country.
- Partners in Ministry: help support program needs in ministry for youth and children, housing repair and resource and referral.
The North Carolina Conference has 24 missionaries and 72 mission projects highlighted on pgs. 16-26 in the 2019 Mission & Service book. With these, along with more than 600 projects and 300 missionaries supported through the General Board of Global Ministries, there is a mission focus to fit the interest and passion of most anyone.
Please consider supporting one or more of these projects/missionaries by participating in #GivingTuesday. Encourage your family and friends to join you by sharing the message on social media. You can even bring awareness by adding a Facebook profile picture frame. Visit facebook.com/profilepicframes and search for “#GiveUMC.”
Let’s join together to ensure that these ministries can continue the vital work of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
