Matthew 25: 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink?”
One in five adults and one in four children, face food insecurity in the United States every day. The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties for over 35 years. All of these counties are encompassed in the North Carolina Annual Conference. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through distribution centers in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington.
The Raleigh Center has recently been expanded and the new facility has the capacity to distribute food broadly. Many businesses and corporations, along with individuals and groups help to supply the food that is disbursed to local meal serving and giving sites, to include several of our United Methodist Churches. Funding is needed to insure maintaining the quality operations of this much needed facility.
You may donate to the work of The Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC through the Advance. Make your check out to your local church with a note in the memo for S#00025. For more information, check out their website. http://www.foodbankcenc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=FBCENCHome

God provides generously, pouring out the richness of creation to all the world, and we are instructed to respond in kind. The earth is blessed with an abundance of healthy and delicious food. Let us make sure that all of God’s people have enough! And in that witness of generosity, may God’s love be known throughout the world!
