During Black History month, we are pleased to feature several North Carolina women serving in mission. Today, we salute Barbara Rogers (Advance # 3022129), a Global Mission Fellow commissioned in August 2015 for a two year term of service.
Barbara, member of Galilee UMC in Laurinburg, NC, is serving a two year term of service with the Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy in Russia. No stranger to living abroad, Barbara studied Swahili in Africa during the summer of 2014. She graduated in television production from Howard University and has worked at a before and after school program in Washington, DC.
Asked about the important influences in her life, Barbara says her parents “lived out the concept of helping others when you see them in need ….. Helping those around me is now such innate behavior that I can say answering the call to mission has been my standard of exchanging love in God’s way.”
To support Barbara in her ministry, you may:
- Pray for Barbara and her ministry in Russia.
- Learn more about the Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy at its website.
- Email her at brogers@umcmission.org.
- Send a financial contribution for UMC Missions with Advance # 3022129 in the memo line. Checks for the Advance may be sent through your local church or directly to the NCC Treasurer’s office: Conference Treasurer, Raleigh Area, P.O. Box 890202, Charlotte, NC 28289-0202.
