Engage, Connect, and Grow as part of the [Gen]eration Transformation, mission opportunities in the UMC for young adults. Whether you are employed full time, still in college, or graduated and wondering what to do next, consider giving two years of your life to serving others, exploring how faith intersects with the world, and developing leadership skills as a Global Mission Fellow. Learn more and meet some of the young people with NC connections that are currently serving.
- Gretchen Brown from Concord, NC (WNC Conference), graduated from
Appalachian State and now serves at the Faith Action Network in Seattle, WA.
- Ceewin Louder, a member at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh, graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and interned with the Raleigh Police Department before becoming a US-2. She current is assigned to Quail Springs UMC in Oklahoma City, where she is Associate Coordinator of Outreach, working with a growing Hispanic-Latino population.
- Marcharkelti McKenkie (“Mo”), from Jerusalem UMC, Wise, NC is completing
her second year working with the Mobile (Alabama) District UMC’s Open Door Ministry in transformative ministries, addressing spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the community.
- Sarah Smoot & Tyler Smoot (who comes from
Henderson, NC) are a non-UMC couple who graduated with MDiv degrees from Duke Theological Seminary. They are now developing creative concepts of ministry at the Servant Community Church in Wisconsin, a church planted to help connect young adults with God by serving together in mission. Sarah also
works with Interfaith Worker Justice in Madison, WI. You can read more on Sarah’s blog site, including how she promoted the spiritual discipline of fasting as a way to fight for improvements in the working conditions of fast food workers.
- Chelsea Williams from Boone, NC (WNC Conference) assigned to the NOAH project in Detroit, MI, helps provide a supportive environment for homeless persons through its Bag Lunch Program.

The final deadline for the International program is February 15, 2016. A limited number of applications filed by March 31, 2016 will also be filled US-2 positions.
