This year, UMCOR marks 75 years of being with those in times of crisis. Messiah UMC in Springfield, VA just completed making 1,000 Health Kits. That Church challenges other Churches to make Relief Kits. Consider having an Assembly Fair at your Church or at the Missions Outreach Center in Goldsboro (located on the campus of 3MC). Visit UMCOR’s anniversary resources page and download a Relief-Kit Assembly Fair Guide to help you take on the Thousand-Kit Challenge.
On the UMCOR website (http://www.umcor.org/UMCOR/Relief-Supplies ), you can find directions for birthing kits, layette kits, health kits, school kits, sewing kits, and bedding kits. All of these kits are needed at the Missions Outreach Warehouse in Goldsboro.
The Conference Missions Team will have a workday at that site at 676 Community Drive in Goldsboro on March 21 from 9 am to 2pm. Any full kits, or any quantity of materials for any kit, can be taken to the warehouse that day. Also Food Buckets for Sierra Leone can be taken to the warehouse that day. Please note: We do NOT need cleaning buckets (sometimes called Flood Buckets) at this time. Should March 21 not be a suitable date, makers of kits may drop off those kits on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday at the Warehouse, or place the kits in the shed right outside the gate of the 3MC complex.
And remember to celebrate One Great Hour of Sharing on March 15 or at another time more suited to your congregation. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering supports all of UMCOR’s work.
