As Christians, we are challenged to respond with compassion to the thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the Southern border into the United States, regardless of our position on immigration. Bishop Hope Morgan Ward joins UM Bishop Minerva Carcano (California-Nevada Conference) in inviting us to join them in an Interfaith Weekend of Compassion and Prayer for Unaccompanied Migrant Children, July 18-19, 2014, from sunrise to sunset.
Bishop Carcano writes: Out of the visit to Port Hueneme, Bishop Jon Bruno, of the Episcopal Church in Los Angeles and I have invited the faith communities in CA to join us in an Interfaith Call to Compassion and Prayers for the Unaccompanied Migrant Children. Great interest in participating in this call has come from others across the US, though we would also welcome international support. …. Please join us in promoting this Call to Compassion and Prayer.
