During the final days of April, multiple tornadoes touched down across areas of north-eastern North Carolina and damaged or destroyed more than 400 homes. Several hundred United Methodist volunteers from across the North Carolina Conference, the Western North Carolina Conference, Virginia Conference, and other conferences, began the initial work of serving the many people who were so deeply effected by this tragedy. In ministries of repair, clean-up, prayer, and caring, those that responded have demonstrated the life and love of Jesus to a hurting community.
As Ms Shirley Edwards shares with Bishop Ward, she wants you to know how much your offering means to her and those in her community. Here are her words …
The needs are great and the area does not qualify for federal disaster funding. Thus, the response of we in the faith community is critical. Please pray for the victims, and more, put skin on your prayers and come and help these brothers and sisters to recover from horrible destruction. See volunteer information below.
Also, please invite everyone in your congregation to support the recovery with desperately needed funds.
