Come celebrate and learn about conference Hispanic/Latino Ministries, March 30, 2014. Corridor District is hosting a series of workshops and time of worship from 3-6 pm at Camp Chestnut Ridge, Efland, NC. Rev. Rosanna Panizo, our GBGM missionary assigned to the Corridor District Hispanic Ministries, will lead the worship. Participants will choose two of four available workshops. The afternoon will conclude with an authentic Tex-Mex dinner (“Closer to the border than to Taco Bell”) served at 6 pm.
Workshops being offered include:
1. Cultures and Life Experience within the Latino/a Community in NC. This workshop will help participants realize the multicultural nature of the Latino/a reality in our state and focus on Latino/a religious experience, relevant community festivities, customs, and traditions.
2. “Caminantes” Pastors: A Journey of Faith. NC pastors, who have been participants in the Duke Divinity School Program “Pastores Caminantes” through the Latino House of Studies, will share their spiritual journey of awareness of the “Latino reality” and how they are developing and implementing mission approaches within their ministries.
3. “Disciples Making Disciples” Vision and Strategic Planning of the Hispanic/Latino/a Ministries Plan in the NC Conference. In this session the participants will learn about the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino/a Ministries and particularly the Vision and Strategic Planning on Hispanic/Latino/a Ministries in our conference.
4. Resources. This workshop will provide participants with a diversity of educational, liturgical, and legal tools to use in their initiatives to develop ministries with our Hispanic/Latino/a neighbors.
