In an attempt to stay safe and keep others safe, we have all had to rethink what it means to “gather” each week. The NC Conference has worked to provide a variety of resources and training during this time.
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for churches and pastors to utilize Zoom video-conferencing software. This opportunity comes as a result of the initial Zoom grant offerings from the NC Conference Multicultural Ministries and Evangelism committees. We are grateful for their leadership and vision.
We have worked with Zoom to offer a 2-year Business license (see features here) for a total cost of $8.33/month (regularly $19.99/month). We know that some churches may not be able to afford this price. The NC Conference Communications Committee has generously agreed to cover the costs of the first year of the license for pastors and churches.
Thus, the first year will essentially be at no charge to the congregation or pastor. The second year will be at the $8.33/month cost. We will ask congregations and pastors to cover the full costs when you sign up, making the total up-front cost $100/account for the full 2-year term.
Some of you have already signed up for Zoom during this time. If you take advantage of this offer, please do not cancel your account. You will be offered a prorated refund from Zoom once you complete the signup process. If you signed up for an account under one of the grants mentioned above, your account will not change.
To sign up, start by filling out the Zoom Account form on our website. You will need to use an nccumc.org email address in order to sign up. Once the form is submitted and payment is received, you will receive an invitation to join our account. You will not be billed through Zoom.
You are able to register for one license per pastor and up to five church licenses.
If you have questions about this offer, please contact the Communications team. We look forward to working with you as you continue to spread the gospel throughout the NC Conference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to sign up for a Zoom account through the NC Conference?
Clergy with an nccumc.org email account and churches within the NC Conference.
How do I sign up for a church account?
On the Zoom Account form, please make sure to check the box for a church account. You will be asked for an email address for the church account.
Why do I need to use my nccumc.org email address for my clergy account?
We ask that clergy use their nccumc.org email address (as opposed to a church email address, for example) so that their Zoom account will follow them when they move to a new church.
Will I lose my settings/meetings?
No. All of your personal settings and meetings will be transferred with your account.
How do I transition my account?
Once you have filled out the form, you will receive an invitation to join our account. Follow the prompts through the approval process. You will be offered a prorated refund during this process if you choose “Refund to self.”
My refund says $0.00 instead of the correct amount. Will I not get a refund?
Zoom has assured us that this is a display issue. You will be refunded a prorated amount based on the current usage of your account.
I already have a Zoom account. What if it’s not set up with my nccumc.org email address?
If registering for a Pastor’s account, before filling out the Zoom Account form, please change the email address associated with the current Zoom account to your nccumc.org email address.
If you are registering a Church account, once you choose the Church option, you will be prompted to include an email address for the Church license.
Can I get add-ons with an NC Conference Zoom Account?
Yes. Add-ons are available for an additional non-subsidized fee. Please indicate which add-on you are interested in on the form and we will follow up with you.
It says the Account Owner is Derek Leek. Is this correct? Will my meetings be from Derek?
Yes, this is correct. Derek Leek is the NC Conference group account holder. Your meetings are still your own and invitations will be from you.
