As the Conference continues to monitor the spread of the Coronavirus and COVID-19, we are acutely aware of the need to protect the health and safety of the staff and visitors of the United Methodist Building. As we look for ways to do that while continuing to support all of our churches, pastors, laity, and other Conference organizations, the following adjustments will be in place over the next few weeks.
Beginning immediately, through April 15, Conference staff will be given the option to work remotely. If you are trying to reach someone at the office, please know that they may not be at their desk; consider sending an email or leaving a voicemail.
In addition, we will limit the number of in-person meetings at the building and encourage committees and teams to utilize teleconferencing and other virtual meeting methods. Staff is also strongly encouraged to reduce travel outside of the Conference. If you have questions or concerns about a specific meeting, please contact the appropriate committee chair or Conference staff person.
For local churches, Bishop Hope Morgan Ward has given recommendations (updated 3/11/20) to prevent the spread of contagious illness. Please review them and share them in your congregations.
