Edgar De Jesus, pastor of Davis Street UMC in Burlington, has been elected president of the National Association of Filipino American United Methodists (NAFAUM) during
the recent 16th NAFAUM convocation in Manila, Philippines. In its 30 years of existence, NAFAUM held its convocation outside the United States for the first time on January 3-6, 2018.
Rev. De Jesus will lead the association of Filipino and Filipino American United Methodists in North America and will primarily represent the Filipino caucus in the National Federation of Asian American United Methodists (NFAAUM) and the advisory committee for the Asian American Language Ministries and Pacific Islanders (AALM) of the General Board of Global Ministries.
The historic gathering, dubbed “BalikBayanihan 2018,” was hosted and participated in by the Philippines Central Conference, the Manila Episcopal Area, and the Central United Methodist Church of Manila.
