Three members of the NC Conference General Conference delegation have been elected to leadership positions in legislative committees, which will discuss and possibly modify submitted resolutions and petitions before sending them to the full gathering for final action.
Emily Innes (Wilmington) was elected chair of the Global Ministries Legislative Committee. Duncan McMillan (student at Campbell University) was elected secretary of the Superintendency Legislative Committee, and LaNella Smith (Durham) was elected chair of one of the subcommittees of the Judicial Administration Legislative Committee.
Petitions and resolutions were submitted to the conference as proposed changes to the Book of Discipline, which regulates the manner in which local churches, annual conferences, and general agencies are organized and the Book of Resolutions, which provides ministry guidelines for individuals and churches.
