The TV news reported this morning figures that already are out of date: the intense storms that coursed through eastern North Carolina on Saturday, April 16, claimed 24 lives, destroyed 439 homes, and another 7000 homes and businesses were damaged. The numbers continue to rise. They do not include the number of fields, already sown for summer’s crops, that were torn up. The numbers do not report the tears shed, expressions of joy over lives spared, or the tears of despair at the sight of the rubble. The numbers cannot contain the worry over how to cope with the loss.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters affected by the storms, as they are more than numbers to God and to us. Pray for the volunteers who are coming with energy, compassion and tools to help NC rebuild. Pray for donors who may not have any other way to support the effort of recovery.
The numbers will be different tomorrow, and with your help, a lot of other things will be different, as well.
