To: All CCT Leaders, Committee and Board Chairpersons
From: Carol Goehring, Executive Director, Conference Connectional Ministries
Most of our committees, commission, boards and teams have met at least twice since organizing last summer. If you are aware of members who have not participated or who have expressed inability to faithfully serve at this time, I will help you move forward to fill these positions for the remainder of the quadrennium.
We are not eager to expand the committees unless there are glaring needs. Please discuss with me the perceived need before you simply add persons to any committee. You can find the nominations form here.
Filling an open position is my concern here. Please come to the CCT meeting on February 23, or send me an email with the name of the committee member who is to be replaced, so that we may update our records. Indicate any particular role or function of the position (e.g., executive committee or task oversight), and the status of the person (e.g., lay or clergy, male or female, ethnicity) if this is important for the composition of the team.
When we receive the list of needs, we will post them online and distribute service opportunities to the Conference Superintendents. Nominations will be received at my office online or by fax or mail until March 13, and we encourage self-nomination as we did last year.
The Cabinet is authorized to approve nominations between sessions of the Annual Conference, or they may choose to present the nominations to the Annual Conference for adoption in June.
It is important to know that Nominations may be submitted by anyone; however, eligibility is denied to persons who already have served on the committee, commission, board or team for 6 years or more. The eight year limit and our desire that they will serve until the end of the quadrennium, as well as, our hope that leaders emerge and experience opportunity to serve in new ministries requires our attention to this eligibility.
Thank you for your cooperation and leadership in the work of the NCC. The movement of the Spirit happens through people like you!
