Sexual and professional misconduct within a ministerial relationship destroys community, inhibits the full and joyful participation of all in the community of God, impedes the mission of Jesus Christ, and is a betrayal of sacred trust.
The North Carolina Conference will not condone or tolerate instances of sexual or professional misconduct, and is committed to procedural justice and pastoral concern through a fair process of justice making for victims and survivors, real accountability for abusers, and healing for all parties.
If you would like to speak with someone regarding clergy sexual or professional misconduct, please call: 1-800-946-2926. Spanish-speaking: 1-800-216-1288. This confidential hotline is staffed by Lighthouse Services. Confidential incident reports may also be submitted through the Lighthouse Services website.
The Committee on Sexual Ethics of the Board of Ordained Ministry works collaboratively with local churches and church agencies to provide education and information on sexual misconduct issues. For non-emergency issues, you may connect with the committee by calling 1-800-849-4433, extension 246.
