Where can you find a list of all of the DVD and book studies for adult small groups available to borrow from the NC Conference Media Center?
How do I find the Genre Collections page?
From any page in OPALS, hover over the Home tab on the far left to see the menu. Click on the last option, Featured – Genre Collections.
Or if you are on the Home page, you will see the full Home menu displayed underneath the top menu. Featured – Genre Collections is the far right option.
Once you click on it, the Genre Collections page below will be displayed. Click on any of the titles to see the lists of resources. The lists are separated by DVD or book study. There are also lists for audiobooks, devotionals, single-session studies, and online resources.
How are the studies organized?
The studies are organized by general topic across several lists on the Genre Collections page. Some of these lists also have several sub-categories. Some studies are listed under more than one topic.
There is also a separate list of DVD Studies by United Methodist Authors that groups these studies based on the author. If the author has two studies in our catalog, then they have their own group in this list. If not, their study is listed under “Other Authors.” Some United Methodist publishers have their own group in this list including Abingdon Women, Wesley Ministry Network, and the Lewis Center for Church Leadership. Some curriculum series are also grouped separately. These include Discipleship, Beginnings, Digital Diary, Living Our Principles, and Adult Bible Studies. Most of the studies on this list are also listed under their corresponding topic. This page is long and may take a few moments to load.
There is also a list of Single-Session DVD Studies. This list is good to access when you are in-between studies and need something for only one or two sessions. It includes seven curriculum series of stand-alone studies.
What about seasonal studies for Advent and Lent?
DVD Studies for Advent and Lent are not included in the Genre Collections since these lists are intended to help you in your search for your small group’s next DVD study any time of the year.
Instead, you can find them on the Pathfinders page. You can access the Pathfinders page from the same Home menu where you found the Genre Collections.
Once you arrive at the Pathfinders page, choose Advent, Christmas, Easter, Lent, or Holidays from the drop-down menu to find the relevant lists. For adult small groups, you will be looking for these lists:
- Advent and Christmas DVDs for Adults
- Advent and Christmas Books for Adults
- Lent and Easter DVDs for Adults
- Lent and Easter Books for Adults
