Join author Cindy S. Lee for a virtual session of both practice and discussion of her new book \u201cContemplative Witnessing BIPOC-Centered Spiritual Direction\u201d. You will experience invitations from the book and have time to discuss how this might be applied in your spiritual direction practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spiritual direction is a communal spiritual practice that helps open our souls to other human beings. Yet, BIPOC people in the US are surrounded by persistent messages and encounters with social systems that daily deny our souls\u2019 dignity and worth. In the face of such challenges, Cindy S. Lee calls for spiritual directors to serve as contemplative witnesses to injustice and to facilitate restoration when BIPOC people\u2019s sacredness is dismissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Contemplative Witnessing<\/em>, Lee explores how BIPOC people can experience a liberating spirituality so we can settle into our own bodies, experience the traditions and spirituality of our cultures, and engage with communities that reflect our sacredness back to us. Contemplative Witnessing<\/em> serves as a guide for spiritual directors to facilitate such encounters. This book equips spiritual directors, who often lack BIPOC-centered tools and training, to journey with and within, and to serve as witnesses as BIPOC people encounter our most sacred and honest selves. Cindy S. Lee is a Taiwanese-American spiritual director and aspiring mystic. She leads retreats in the areas of Christian mysticism and BIPOC centered spirituality. She also mentors and trains spiritual directors, and is particularly interested in supporting BIPOC spiritual directors. As an affiliate she teaches in the area of Christian spirituality and spiritual direction. In addition, Dr. Lee serves as the doctoral projects administrator for the DMin and DGL degrees at Fuller Theological Seminary. Prior to Fuller she served overseas in Beijing and Taipei. In her free time, she enjoys street art, coffee, and exploring the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
