The Theology, Medicine, and Culture Initiative at Duke Divinity School is hosting the fourth seminar in its Spring seminar series, “Side By Side: Towards a Spirituality of Accompaniment” with Jennie Weiss Block, OP. Dr. Block is a Dominican laywoman and a practical theologian. She has served as chief advisor to Dr. Paul Farmer since 2009 and was his chief of staff in his role as United Nations Deputy Special Envoy under President Bill Clinton. In her current role as chief advisor, she provides strategic guidance in policy analysis and development, humanitarian disaster management, disability rights, foreign aid effectiveness, poverty reduction and global health equity, and serves as liaison with international NGOs, foundations and philanthropists.
Registration is required. These semi-monthly TMC seminars are a regular gathering of faculty, fellows, students, and others interested in the intersections of theology, medicine, and culture. The series is open to the public. Continuing education credit is available.
