We moved to this country three years ago. My husband had the opportunity to get a veterinarian job in North Carolina. We decided to come because he had been without a job for two years, and our country’s insecurity was snowballing. We moved to the US with our two children, and none of us spoke the language. Changes came too quickly: far from our family, no church or connections. And on top of that, my mother passed away 21 days after arriving. I felt sadness, loneliness, and anxiety about the uncertainty of what would happen to us.
For me, it was life in a desert, but after a few months, God opened doors and set up a church (the pastor helped me a lot, he translated his sermon into Spanish, he did a lot to communicate with us, and now his Spanish is excellent). The Church is candid and welcoming. They are now my family. God has put people who are a blessing to our lives; beautiful things have happened that I never imagined. God’s protection always surpasses us.
Although we are going through a desert of uncertainty, God will always be with us in the middle of a pandemic, giving us new strength, healing us, restoring us. Let us remember that God’s promises are always fulfilled, and he gives us even more than we expect. God will satisfy us in abundance, to share with others his blessings and promises. God invites us to strive and be courageous, and God continues to work God’s perfect will in our lives.
Prayer
Beloved Father, we ask for your help in this desert. Give us strength, provide us with direction, peace, faith, and hope. Heal us and heal our land. We ask you to restore our lives and that your blessings flow abundantly as we share with others. Amen.
