Discussion Forum: Introduce Yourself
Hello to all!
I am Kelly Barr and I serve as the pastor of Rowland UMC in Rowland North Carolina. In addition, I serve as the Assistant to the District Superintendent for the Gateway District. I am the father of a 24 year old son who suffered a traumatic brain injury at 15. Although he is ambulatory with the assistance of a cane now, he was in a wheelchair for a few years. There were churches in the district that he was unable to enter safely. I am married to a wonderful wife, Julie, and Julie, Robbie, and I live in rural southeastern North Carolina.
I hope to learn how to best address the difficulties that some of our brothers and sisters face with access to the church. As a result of the learning, I hope to be able to assist the other churches in our district and conference address those issues.
Hi Kelly, Good to see you on this course. I look forward to learning more from your experiences.
Hi Kelly! I am glad to be able to share a "classroom" with you here!
Welcome, Kelly. I hope this course gives us all a good chance to explore how to help our churches consider the needs of differently-abled persons.
Thanks for your willingness to share and to teach from your own strength and experience! I hope to learn lots from you!
