He holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Classical Studies, a Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological, a M.A. in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University, and a DMin in Pastoral Leadership from Wesley Theological. From all those fields and all those perspectives he draws together a sense of ancient themes and modern needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His ministry in the local church began in western Pennsylvania, where he served eight years. He joined the North Carolina Conference more than two decades ago, and has served in various urban&nbsp;and suburban settings.
