Part of the struggle involves remaining compassionate towards ourselves through the journey, and strengthening our \u201cemotional muscles\u201d to better bear one another\u2019s burdens. Drawing from language of spiritual practices, Helsel deepens our capacity for tough conversations and points to how to have these conversations with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Presenter:<\/strong> The Rev. Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel is the author of <em>Anxious to Talk About It: Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully About Racism<\/em> (Chalice Press: 2018) and <em>Preaching about Racism: A Guide for Faith Leaders<\/em> (Chalice Press: 2018). Her work helps people of faith, particularly white people, to have conversations about race by attending to emotions and honoring the experiences of those present.
