In their book, A New Day in the City, Donna and Roger challenge models that offer one-size-fits-all solutions for declining churches. Instead, they insist that there are no easy answers: “churches that need to adapt and change to thrive can’t simply replicate what someone else has done or is doing.”
In place of prefab solutions, Donna and Roger offer a framework for crucial conversations that congregations must have in order to discern their own path to renewal. These conversations shift the focus away from step-by-step strategic plans and instead frame the discussion around what it means to live into the landscape of God’s kingdom.
In this Day of Learning, Donna and Roger will focus on four key conversations that churches must have:
- The process of pruning or letting go
- An invitation to rethink vision
- Ways to rethink strategy
- How to overcome the divide that’s created between mission and evangelism
