“There’s a remarkable revival of the urban church in North America. Donna and Roger can help you be part of it!” ~ Retired Bishop William H. Willimon
“A New Day in the City by Donna Sokol and Roger Owens is the most accessible and helpful book on church leadership that I have read in a while.” ~Paul Nixon
Who Should Come? Any pastor, staff, or lay leader in a congregation (urban, suburban, or rural!) that is seeking some kind of renewal and is tired of quick fixes, church growth conferences, and one size fits all approaches.
What Should I Expect? When congregations need renewal, we often look for proven strategies we can apply. But that is not what we need. We need to know how to host the conversations out of which renewal will emerge. There is no quick fix. This workshop will introduce participants to four key conversations that can lead to congregational renewal and provide the space for participants to imagine how they can take these conversations into their own contexts.
- What are we doing now that should stop, so that new fruit might burst forth?
- Do we really need a vision statement? How else might we imagine our future?
- Must we have a step-by-step strategic plan? What other models might work?
- How can we hold mission and evangelism together to achieve more holistic engagement with our communities?
Donna and Roger will lead participants to dig into these questions and imagine new ways forward for their own church communities.
It is time for a new day in your congregation!
