Concerns about church safety and security have grown in reaction to several tragic incidents in churches around the nation. As Christians, we know the reality of evil in the world and seek to respond in faithful ways.
Church security and safety touches on and encompasses many ministry areas. Being equipped starts with information gathering and development of a team dedicated to assembling a working, usable safety plan. Four events are scheduled throughout the NCCUMC to start churches in the process. Each will follow a similar format beginning with worship, grounded in a place of hope and identifying what our beliefs are as Methodists and people of faith.
Following worship, law enforcement will present about church security and safety. Several workshop options will be presented for the remainder of the event, including getting started with a safety team, introduction to first aid/AED, Safe Sanctuaries training, and recognizing challenging or dangerous behavior and strategies for calming people in these situations.
There is no charge for this event; however, the Districts will ask for registrations so they will be prepared for the numbers attending.
