The course is grounded in the classic patterns of Christian worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participants will be able to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be able to name the four elements of the Basic Pattern of Worship and describe the history of this pattern;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice leadership through the four elements of the basic pattern;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Receive and offer supportive feedback on planning and leading worship;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore and practice leading worship in a variety of settings, other patterns of worship, and multiple forms of prayer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-secondary-color has-theme-light-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background\"><strong>Order Your Book!<\/strong> <br><br>All participants are expected to read <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cokesbury.com\/Worshiping-with-United-Methodists-Revised-Edition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Worshiping with United Methodists<\/a><\/em>, by Hoyt L. Hickman, prior to class. <br><br>Participants will also need access to a <em>United Methodist Hymnal<\/em> and a <em>United Methodist Book of Worship<\/em>. Your church or pastor probably has a copy that you may borrow. He grew up in Florida, but settled in North Carolina in 1994 after he met his wife, Cheryl. A graduate of Webber International University with a degree in Business, and Duke Divinity School with a Master of Divinity degree.
