Participants will engage key areas of the Social Principles, including the Natural World, Social Community, Economic Community, and Political Community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Learners will be able to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explain the relationship between the Social Principles and the Bible, and describe their roots in the Wesleyan tradition as expressed within The United Methodist Church as a \u201cmeans of grace\u201d;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe key positions of the Social Principles and connect their statements to the lived practice of ministry for individuals and local churches;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a hospitable climate for teaching and practicing the Social Principles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For questions about the course, please contact Harbor Lay Servant Ministries district director Sandy Core (<a href=\"mailto:vambrose@nccumc.org\">score@nccumc.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-light-gray-background-color has-background\"><em>To receive credit for a Zoom course, full attention and presence are required. Sandy attends Ocean View UMC and answered the call to be a lay speaker in 2016.
