It is also required for all who pursue recognition in Lay Servant Ministries. The <em>Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course<\/em> is a foundational course designed to equip new church leaders and renew current leaders in The United Methodist Church. It explores:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>personal spiritual gifts;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>servant leadership;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>each leader\u2019s role in developing future leaders;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the importance of consistent spiritual practices;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the core ministries of Leading, Caring, and Communicating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>For Participants<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>:<\/strong> All participants are expected to read the LSM <a href=\"https:\/\/store.upperroom.org\/product\/lay-servant-ministries-basic-course-participant-s-book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Basic Course Participant&#8217;s Book<\/a>, by Sandy Jackson with Brian Jackson, prior to the course.
