It is Christmas time.
So we naturally feel generous in our hearts.
Why is that?
Is it because we are going to celebrate God’s gift to humanity?
God gave us his Son Jesus Christ.
Jesus was born unto a young girl who had not known a man.
God’s son was born into this world of existence as a normal human being.
He had to endure all the pains of a normal child growing up.
He studied the Torah while still learning a trade from his human father.
Jesus was not born into wealth or a charmed life.
He was part of a carpenter’s family.
He hurt when struck and he bled when cut.
He was taught that he was special.
He was not treated special while growing up.
Destiny would prove him special.
His first miracle was making water into wine.
As his ministry progressed he change many lives through his love and healing.
His greatest miracle was dying on the cross between two thieves.
God, his Father gave him to us to save us from ourselves.
By this one sacrifice we are gifted with the salvation we did not earn.
A grace we did not ask for.
How many of us would offer their son up for such a miserable death?
God did.
We celebrate Jesus and his generosity when he was on this earth.
We need to recognize his father’s generosity as well.
Remember it was his idea to send Jesus.
