I am Amy Lynn McCurry Perry. I am a native of Raleigh. The only time I have lived away was when I attended UNCW. I currently live in North Raleigh with my 18-year-old daughter, Chesson, who will be attending ECU this coming fall. I guess that would put me in the pre-empty-nester stage of life. Wow – time just flew really fast.

When you visit the United Methodist Building, you will probably hear me before you see me. I have been told (‘specially by my daughter) that I am not a quiet person. My hope is that it is joyous ‘noise’ that you hear from my direction. Life is too short and precious to not be happy. A smile, a “Yay,” or a “Hey” is sometimes the greatest gift you can give others.

This past year was tough – not the toughest one – but in looking for a full-time job and being a single mom, trying to balance it “all” as I call it, Philippians 4:13 kept me focused on what was important and the hope and guidance that Christ brings to anyone and everyone. But so many wonderful things have happened this year. I believe that the day I was offered a position at the Methodist Building was not only a wonderful day but also a God-driven happening.

I hope that those around me can see that I value them. I believe that everyone is a unique person and even if we are not on the ‘same page,’ that we can learn about each other and hopefully make something positive come from the experience.
