In this season of Covid-19, we have found ourselves caught between competing loves: love of tradition and love of innovation (how do we maintain an embodied worshipful life and use the gifts of technology), love of sacramental gatherings and love of doing no harm (how do we maintain the centrality of communion while also caring for one another from a safe distance), love of social holiness and love of personal piety (how do we cultivate a sense of a collective good and encourage the development of personal holiness).
To help us attend to our heart, Bishop Hope Morgan Ward convened a conversation with five scholars from Duke Divinity School to discuss the theological and practical work of attending to our vocation of being disciplined by love.
