The NCCUMC Board of Church and Society and the United Methodist Advocates for Public Schools (UMAPS) are working with the clergy and laity of the Capital District to build a network of grassroots advocates for traditional public schools in North Carolina.
In 2016, the delegates to the North Carolina Annual Conference passed a resolution encouraging the Conference and our brothers and sisters in Christ to be advocates for public schools in North Carolina on behalf of students, teachers, administrators, and families. The Capital District supports and affirms the efforts of local churches to become advocates for North Carolina’s public schools.
