Black’s Chapel UMC in Godwin, NC is looking for someone to play either the piano or organ for our 11am worship services on Sunday mornings. We are a small rural church just North of Fayetteville, NC on route 301.
This is a paid position which entails playing a prelude for the lighting of the candles, and usually two hymns during worship (opening and closing), along with an offertory, gloria patri, and doxology. Ideally, this person would be available every Sunday to perform these duties. We do not currently have a choir, therefore as the accompanist, you would provide the music for the congregation as they worship God.
The worship committee at Black’s Chapel usually picks the hymns, so that duty would not fall solely on the accompanist, but the committee also takes into consideration suggestions from the accompanist, as the accompanist is a member of the worship committee. As such, the accompanist may suggest additional musicians to perform solos, as well as groups for special music, or develop special music working with members of the congregation.
If you have been looking for a location to start a career as an accompanist, we would love to talk with you. We are a very loving, nuturing church, and would welcome the opportunity to provide a new, growing talent with a platform upon which to grow. This job is in it’s entirety a most basic accompanist role.
If you have been an accompanist for years and are looking for a new church home, we would also like to speak to you as well, since we would love to provide you a new platform from which you can continue to use your talents to praise God for a new audience.
