Unique Opportunity for a Conference Communicator
The Florida Annual Conference, located in Lakeland, Florida, is a regional unit of The United Methodist Church and comprises more than 700 local churches and related ministries across the state. This religious organization is seeking a talented communications professional to lead the development and implementation of effective communication strategies that will raise the visibility of the annual conference in order to further its mission.
The selected candidate will be a creative thinker who understands the needs of the organization and can collaboratively design solutions to achieve objectives. Successful applicants must also demonstrate an ability to develop, manage and carry out multiple communication strategies across various departments concurrently. And, these strategies must yield measurable results.
An essential skill for the Conference Communicator is the ability to write and edit communication materials. Candidates who are proficient and polished writers who emphasize compelling storytelling and who have experience in managing crisis communications will have a significant advantage.
The Conference utilizes Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms as part of our current communications plan. Applicants must have experience with page management for multiple social media channels, LIVE publishing on all platforms as well as the ability to handle proper social media interactions, queries from the public and analyze various social media metrics.
Additional requirements include a bachelor’s degree with concentration in marketing, public relations, or related communications field and/or 7-10 years of experience in corporate or nonprofit marketing or communications.
Appreciation of the nature and mission of the church is important, and knowledge of The United Methodist Church will be an advantage.
