We are blessed by the response from all over our country by United Methodist Churches in our time of distress following Hurricane Florence. We ask for continued prayers for guidance as we work through insurance claims, a stalled building program, and current building repairs. We are blessed by our lead pastor Rev. Skip Williams as he continues to guide us in worship in a small activity building. We will hold three worship services on Christmas Eve in a large tent and pray that this unique worship service will be filled with others who will experience the gift of Christ’s Love to all. – from Peggy Harris

Please keep in prayer the family of the mother and infant child who were both killed when a tree fell on their house in Wilmington, NC after Hurricane Florence made landfall. The husband, who was also in the house, was transported to the hospital with injuries.

I’m a member of the Korean Baptist Church in Jacksonville NC, and I’m asking if you could pray for us to rebuild our church after Hurricane Florence. The whole church flooded out, and we now have church service at another church, which we are very blessed to be able to hold service still and very thankful. We also meet in the parking lot and have Bible studies and prayer groups still. Please pray for us to be able to rebuild and have our church home back to normal. —Felicity Spear

Please pray for all of the people in Wayne County. Pray for those in our community who somehow believe they were unaffected by Hurricane Florence; that they respond to this disaster and those impacted by it in a manner that pleases God, our Father. Please pray for those who work specifically with our at-risk and impoverished neighbors. Pray that their efforts to assuage the effects of this disaster in no way negatively impact the long-term work of freedom from systemic and generational poverty. Invoke Christ’s name and supplicate God that His will be done in our work and our lives. Pray that we rely not on our own understanding, but believe in Him. Pray that the disaster is a reminder for us that when the storm blows, the Word of God stands; that when we return to the Word, the Holy Spirit precedes us; that when others witness our return to the Word, it is a sign of hope to them; and that a sign of hope is a bellwether of Christ’s return. – from Adam Clark

Please pray for Hampstead UMC and its members which include my parents. The church is closed due to storm impact and facing many challenges. Many members are shouldering heavy burdens from the storm. – from Jim Godwin
Please be in prayer for the congregation of Trinity UMC in Kelly as many of the church members have been displaced by flooding and are struggling to make ends meet. Pastor Ernie Block and everyone in Kelly deeply appreciate your prayers during this challenging time.

Billy (Saint Luke, Laurinburg) and Elaine Olsen deeply appreciate all the prayers, visits, and messages they have received while in Charlotte with their son, Jadon, who was critically injured helping with hurricane cleanup. After conversations with the doctors, they ask that you refrain from driving to visit them or Jadon at this time. There are a lot of procedures and testing at this time that need their attention. Messages and continued prayers are welcomed.
