Last October, Hurricane Matthew dropped more than 15 inches of rain on Goldsboro and forced the evacuation of youth and staff from Methodist Home for Children’s Wayne multipurpose home. Extensive flooding caused damage that closed the home and required 10 months of remediation and reconstruction. This month, we are excited to announce that the home has reopened its doors to court-involved teens. Please join us on Sept. 27 as we celebrate the opening of our Wayne home and the community effort that went into replacing everything from floors, doors, and drywall to furniture and appliances. The Wayne home provides an evidence-based model of care to court-ordered youth and serves teens from Wayne, Lenoir, and Greene counties. Methodist Home for Children provides these services for the N.C. Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice.
