The Spiritual Opportunities at Conference Camps
In this week’s Connections, Bishop Ward lifts up and gives thanks for the opportunities and experiences available at the conference camps and asks readers/viewers to consider inviting a child to camp.

Web Conversation for Local Pastors in February
Bishop Hope Morgan Ward and Cory Oliver, chairperson of the Fellowship of Local Pastors and Associate Members, will host a web conversation with local pastors on Monday, Feb 10, 12-12:45 p.m. Local pastors are invited to participate in a conversation around the topic of “Thriving Leaders and Thriving Churches.” More information about accessing the conversation will be included in upcoming News Briefs.

Footprints Youth Mission Opportunities
Footprints is mission-outreach camp at Camp Rockfish where youth groups serve in the surrounding counties of camp and offer their gifts and skills. Services can include maintenance, light construction, painting, clean-up, visiting the elderly, and Vacation Bible School. Groups go into the community in the morning and return to camp in the evening to experience all the normal camp activities. Youth groups of all sizes are invited to consider the Footprints opportunity to serve in mission without the expense and cultural dislocation of an international mission trip. For more information, go to Footprints.

Camp Rockfish Seeking Program Director
Rockfish Camp and Retreat Center is accepting applications for a dynamic, highly-motivated person to serve as a Program Director to further its mission through the planning and delivery of program activities and events for summer campers and retreatants. The Program Director will participate in the design and delivery of program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the participants’ age and abilities and assist in the management of the overall camp operation in conjunction with and at the direction of the Center Director. For a complete job description, go to Program Director. Applications for this full-time position will be accepted until Feb. 17.

Methodist Home for Children Sunday is Feb. 16
Make a gift of stability, love and healing with the power to change a child’s life. Methodist Home for Children Sunday is the one day a year when churches in the NC Conference receive a special offering for the children and families served by MHC. Most churches in the conference will observe this special day on Feb. 16, but others participate earlier or later in the month, as schedules permit. Promotional materials have been mailed to church offices, and guest speakers are being scheduled for MHC Sunday. If you’d like to schedule a speaker or need additional assistance, contact Jennifer Cooper, 919.754.3625 or jcooper@mhfc.org. Find resources at www.mhfc.org/support.

Afternoon of Learning for Volunteer Youth Workers
Youth leaders and persons interested in youth ministry are invited to Peak UMC in Apex on Feb. 22 to spend the afternoon with Stephanie Caro. The conversation is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Caro has been involved in ministry to children, youth and ministry workers in the local church for 30+ years and is an author and presenter. The cost to attend is $5. Go to Stephanie Caro to register. If you have any questions, please email Lee Barnes or call 919-924-4583.

Save the Date for Black Clergy Retreat
A Black Clergy Leadership Retreat is scheduled for May 20-23 at Myrtle Beach featuring the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell and Pastor Suzette Caldwell as keynote leaders. The theme for the event is “Life Together: Living, Learning and Leading in Community.” Co-sponsored by the General Board of Global Ministries, National Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century, and the North Carolina and the South Carolina Annual Conferences, this promises to be a great time of learning, networking, and fellowship. For more information, go to Leadership Retreat.
