The United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC) Conference was held March 22-24 in New Orleans. 140 communicators from local churches, annual conferences, and general boards and agencies around the globe attended the conference. Workshops and panel discussions centered on the theme Embrace the Story, especially when communicating for the church during a crisis. Conference video producer, Chris Daniel, and Communications Strategist, LeeAnne Thornton, represented the NC Conference at the gathering.
Thursday evening was a special day, where the efforts of UM communicators were recognized during an awards dinner and celebration. 250 entries, in a variety of media formats, bore witness to mission and ministry of shining Christ’s Light into the world.
The North Carolina Conference publication, Every Day Grace Magazine – Issue 3, was awarded first place in the Local Church/Annual Conference category for Special Publications. Certificates were awarded to LeeAnne Thornton, Linda Smith, Beverly Elingburg, Mary Andreolli, and Derek Leek.
