Director of Children and Family Ministries

Nestled on Amelia Island, Memorial United Methodist Church has experienced growth in young families over recent years. As the oldest United Methodist Church in Florida, their rich history is used as a foundation to build for the future.
The Director of Children and Family Ministries will provide innovative, executive leadership in the development and implementation of all aspects of children’s ministry programming, serving children from birth to fifth grade, as well as their families. The main responsibilities:
• Provide Leadership: Oversee all children’s ministry programming, nursery department, serve as liaison to the preschool board and supervise the preschool director.
• Equip families, leaders, and volunteers: The director will recruit, equip, and build teams of children’s ministry leaders and volunteers.
• Develop relationships: Establish relationships with children’s council, volunteers, parents, and children that leads to a team ministering to each child to become a true disciple of Christ.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of five years experience in leading a children’s ministry program
• A Bachelor’s Degree with a preference toward a graduate degree in a related field
• A passion for serving children and their families
• Ability to serve as a spiritual role model by demonstrating a commitment to Christian spiritual practices and by articulating a personal faith journey
• Ability to lead a team and be a team member with a positive spirit that supports the mission and core values of Memorial UMC
• Ability to plan, implement, measure the results of ministry programs and events
• Alignment with the beliefs/practices of United Methodist tradition and theology
