Four Oaks UMC is seeking to employ a part-time Youth Minister. The successful candidate must have a passion for working with youth and helping them discover a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. The Youth Minister is supervised by the senior pastor and the Staff-Parish Relations Team and reports to the church council regularly. The Youth Minister will advocate and model United Methodist theology, doctrine, and polity. The Youth Minister will participate in district and conference meetings and events.
Qualified applicants will have a 4 year degree or an Associate’s degree (can be in process). He or she must have at least two years’ experience working with youth in Grades 6-12. He or she must have a clear theological and biblical understanding and respect for the teachings of United Methodist. He or she must have a Christ-like attitude, be enthusiastic, an encourager, visionary and self-starter, and have the ability to work with minimum direction.
Specific duties include:
• Actively support and enforce our church’s “Safe Sanctuary” policy
• Coordinate and lead monthly meetings of the youth council for planning, implementing, and leading youth ministry in study, worship, fellowship, and mission
• Recruit volunteers
• Coordinate parent meetings
• Coordinate and lead Sunday evening UMYF program
• Coordinate and lead mid-week Bible study for youth
• Coordinate regular service projects and fund-raising
• Coordinate summer plans (missions, retreats, camps, recreation, etc.)
• Coordinate participation in district, conference, jurisdictional, and General Conference activities
• Teach Vacation Bible School class for youth
