University United Methodist Church (University UMC) is a congregation located in downtown Chapel Hill, NC with over 1,800 members, offering two traditional worship services each week. The church’s mission is straightforward: To transform lives by loving God, serving others, and building Christian community. Dynamic Christian programs for all ages are offered, placing special emphasis on discipleship, missions, and outreach. Examples of the church’s missions and outreach include an on-site preschool, a community garden offering fresh produce to community partners, and serving as a host to a number of non-profits that make a positive impact on the Chapel Hill community.
The successful candidate will lead discipleship, spiritual formation, and nurture for middle and high school students at youth related programs and events (Sunday night youth group, retreats, small groups, Sunday school, etc.), have a “heart” for youth, loving them where they are while encouraging youth in developing their relationship with Jesus. University UMC is looking for a youth director who will provide youth with opportunities for spiritual growth and challenge them to respond to God’s call to serve in their communities and the world. The University UMC Youth Director will demonstrate evidence of their personal spiritual formation, as well as a natural ability to develop, lead, and engage a team of youth and adult leaders.
