The Local Church is a bold, inclusive United Methodist new faith community committed to being with and for one another, our community, and the world. Our mantra is our mission: “Love where you are.” We call Pittsboro, North Carolina home, but we believe everybody is local somewhere.
We need a worship leader who plays, sings, and leads beautiful, singable, music — sometimes churchy and often not-too-churchy: anything from current radio hits to old school gospel and hymns. Feel free to throw in some Common Hymnal, Bethel, or Hillsong United. We love a mixed vibe that includes high-energy, sing-your-heart-out, and reflective/chill material. We simply want it to be a faithful representation of the story we’re seeking to tell.
We’re looking for someone who has a heart for inclusivity, connection, and isn’t afraid to be bold in leading worship. This person has chops on keyboard or guitar, is comfortable playing in a variety of styles, and is good at getting others involved. We’d love someone organized and collaborative. We are not looking for a diva or superstar; rather, we hope for someone who enjoys leading people in Christian worship and helping people discover the countercultural joy of singing together.
We also hope you will feel the freedom to let this role go beyond simply choosing songs. As a creative partner, you will have a hand in designing and curating the entire experience from a creative standpoint.
The Worship Leader and Creative Partner is a part-time, salaried position with an understood commitment of 10 hours per week, on average. There is potential for the position to grow as the church grows. For full details including salary, see link below.
