The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) seeks a part-time Gleaning Coordinator for our Triangle NC region. SoSA is a non-profit hunger relief organization that works with farmers, volunteers and packinghouses to rescue fresh produce that may otherwise end up as waste, and distribute it to local feeding agencies. This position is supported by the NC Regional office in Durham and assumes responsibility for various aspects of SoSA’s ministry in the local area, including:
• Maintaining relationships with farmers, volunteer groups, and receiving agencies
• Recruiting farmers to allow gleaning of their produce, and volunteers to participate in gleaning events
• Speaking to local groups and churches about the Gleaning Network and SoSA
• Maintaining detailed records and reporting to the regional office on a regular basis
Qualifications: The Gleaning Coordinator should be a creative and motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. This position is established away from the regional office. Gleaning Coordinators need to be independent in developing and carrying out program needs and objectives. Some physical labor when leading gleaning events can be expected. Travel throughout the Local Gleaning Network should also be expected. Access to a vehicle is required – employee will be reimbursed for mileage. This is a year-round position, averaging 15 hours a week. Compensation is $9.00/hr, paid monthly.
