The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator based in our Durham, NC office. Society of St. Andrew is a non-profit hunger relief organization that works with farmers and packinghouses to rescue fresh produce that may otherwise end up as waste. With the help of our volunteers, we glean or salvage produce and distribute it to local feeding agencies.
The NC Program Coordinator will further the mission of SoSA by supervising our food rescue work in Eastern NC and by coordinating our tractor-trailer distribution across North and South Carolina. This position will support 4 part-time gleaning coordinators across this service area and is supported in the NC Regional office by the Regional Director and from our National Office by our Operations Director. The Program Coordinator and assumes responsibilities for various aspects of SoSA’s work including:
Maintain, grow and oversee SoSA Gleaning Network in Central and Eastern NC, working to establish gleaning teams and identifying, recruiting and training volunteer field supervisors to glean within the region.
Recruit, train, supervise and support 4 direct report part-time employees across the state and work as a team with Western NC Program Coordinator and Local Area Coordinators.
Recruit, support, and thank volunteers from faith based-groups, civic groups, schools, businesses & corporations, etc.
Coordinate distribution of “large loads” of produce throughout the region.
Qualifications:
The Program Coordinator should be a creative and highly motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. Some physical labor when leading gleaning events can be expected. Travel throughout the state should also be expected and access to a vehicle is required – employee will be reimbursed for mileage or have access to rental vehicles. This is a full time position. The starting salary is $38,000 plus insurance and benefits include medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and 401K plans. Weekend work and occasional overnight travel are required.
