I. Mission and Purpose
To enhance the traditional worship experience at FUMC through music.
II. Job Description
Lead Music Volunteers:
-Lead and direct the FUMC choir and the Gospelaires.
-Rehearse regularly
Worship Planning and Leading:
-Though the primary worship planner is the pastor, the
employee will be expected to work with the pastor in
planning and leading worship.
Music Department Maintenance
-Within budget, keep the pianos of the church and the organ in
tune.
-Within budget, update all musical instruments and equipment.
-Responsible for inventorying, cataloging, and maintaining all
choir music.
-Within budget, responsible for recommending and/or ordering
all music for choirs.
III. Requirements of Employee
-The employee must be a college graduate or pursuing a college
degree.
-The employee must play the organ and piano, and they must also
have experience in leading a choir and/or trained in this area.
IV. Employment Hours and Compensation
Hours and work:
-15-20 hours per week
-The employee will be required to fulfill their Sunday morning
responsibilities, they will be required to spend at least one night a
week rehearsing with the music volunteers, and, if needed, they
must do any preparatory work for Sunday.
-They must also be open to participating in any funerals or weddings at
the church, if their schedule allows.
-They will be allowed eight Sundays of vacation time per year. They are responsible for finding replacements in their absence.
Compensation
$18,000 a year
